This orange and dark grey Adire Print with its geometric and fluid patterns is a sophisticated textile choice that serves as a beautiful reminder of the importance of symbolism to the people of Africa.
Adire is not just artistic in its creation process but also deeply spiritual. We consider the batik style of Adire to be a premium design, not just because of the handmade element of its design process but also because of the value of artist rendered symbolisms and its deep connection to the community that creates it. When we adorn and decorate with Adire textiles, we are in relationship with the best parts of ourselves, we are within the loving protection of ancestors (known and unknown) and participating in their deeply intellectual, sacred knowledge.
We encourage you to use this fabric to brighten and elevate your closet and home. Use our Blocks and Loops Premium Adire Batik to make stylized curtains for your home, beautiful long gowns or spacious pants, or to decorate your alter and ritual space. Whichever way you chose to use it, do so with the confidence of connectedness to something bigger than yourself.
Removing Sticker Labels:
Press an iron on the back of the section of fabric that has the label attached to it. Allow enough steam to pass through the fabric, this will allow the label to peel off with ease and minimal residue left on the surface of the fabric. Do not wash before removing the sticker labels.
How to Soften Wax Fabric:
Fill a bucket or washing machine with cold or warm water and add one bottle cap of fabric softener. Allow your fabric to sit and soak overnight before proceeding to wash and rinse. Always wash cold when treating and washing your wax print with bright colors, whites and other prints. Hand washing and air drying are still the most preferred methods of care for wax prints as this preserves its colors and offers less opportunity for disaster, however, in this day and age they may also be the most unlikely methods used.
Another softening method involves the use of salt; anywhere between one quarter cup and half a cup will be sufficient depending on how much fabric is being softened at once. Leave to soak between 24 and 72 hours. Once the wait time has elapsed, carry on with the washing instructions above. Adding fabric softener to the wash cycle will give the softening process an extra boost, if needed.
